Repenting for Our Sins

I know ravage wildfires are all part of living here, but I still get freaked out/fascinated by them. Since 1pm yesterday (which was 20 hours ago), there has been a massive fire burning in Griffith Park, which is pretty much the Hollywood Hills. If you saw Rebel Without a Cause, the Observatory is right there, along with the LA Zoo, awesome hiking trails, golf courses, and a lot of really cool outdoorsy stuff. Basically, it's one of the best things about LA. Since yesterday afternoon, I've been hearing helicopters overhead and firetrucks racing down the street. I don't live that close to the park, like 5 miles away, but it's scary, people were being evacuated from their houses, and you can see smoke in the sky and smell the fire everywhere you go.

So yeah, it's just pretty nuts to be so close to something like this, and of course everyone who lives here makes the joke "ohh, Hollywood's gonna burn for all of it's sins" (or collapse when the Big Earthquake finally comes), but it's kinda, true, the whole thing is pretty biblical.

haircut?

what do you think? i wanna cut it really soon and this is the first/only haircut recently that's caught my eye. i also want to dye my hair but i think i'm gunna get it done professionally for the first time since 9th grade when my mom pulled me out of school to fix the infamous bleach blonde with bright pink chunks fiasco.

my style mantra

there's this new fashion designer who has really been catching my eye. she's been on all of these "top emerging designers to watch" "new faces of fashion" "you will never hear from 9/10ths of these people again" lists over the past few months. her name is wayne lee - her line is called Wayne. she sells her dresses at barneys for $500 bucks but they are seriously amazingly cute cuts and patterns and the colors are pretty top notch. i mean, if they were on sale i might drop quite a bit for them.. not $500 but still quite a bit. the weird thing is that i can hardly find her anywhere on the internet! i mean, she's on the barneys website where her clothes are being modeled by the butchiest most unflattering mannequins ever created* (and they only have like 4 dresses, only one of which i've seen in the magz. the dresses in the magz are so much better than the ones at the store website) but that's really it. it's like that time me and my brother were googling the knack song lyrics and couldn't find any other lyrics to any other songs other than "my sharona." i mean, come on! that's crazy. the other songs are so good! it blew our minds how we found a blackhole in the vast world of knowledge that is the internet and unfortunately it looks like wayne lee is also floating around that blackhole.

anyway, Wayne is mentioned in the new Nylon with Lilo on the cover. ok, how bad does lindsay look in the pics?!! nice mesh tank top you fucking loser! anyway, in the little blurb wayne lee describes her clothes as "for the girl who likes to dress EFFORTLESSLY and ELEGANTLY at the same time."

and i was like... . . woah that's me! or at least that's what i want to be! i think i just found my style mantra! you see, my dream style is looking like the pimpest girl on the block but not looking like i give two shits. effortlessly elegant!! i mean, obvs not elegantly like ballroom gowns but you know that should go without saying.

it feels awesome to have those two words now to sum me up in a weird way. like it will make shopping easier and more clear cut or something. ohh i like this shirt! is it effortless? is it elegant? PUT IT ON CHARGE. nice pillows! it really has an effortlessly elegant look to them no? LETS GET EM! it also seems so obvious. like OF COURSE i want to look nice and put together and kind of flashy (elegant) and of course my beauty regimen consists of me just rolling out of bed (effortless) but somehow putting the two words together has given me so much like UMPPH!
